… The truth behind organ donation & organ transplants
Organ donation is built on the premise that, once you are dead, you no longer need your organs. So you should give them to others who need them. Sort of like leaving them your house or money in your will!?
“Donate Life” they say … give the “Gift of Life” they say … in glossy government funded brochures and magazine ads and TV commercials. In TV documentaries and radio shows the organ donation agencies tug at your heart-strings with sad stories about some poor soul who needs a new heart … or a new liver. Where can one be found? No use rummaging through the cupboard or looking behind the mulberry bush … you won’t find the elusive organ there. No. The solution is much simpler. YOU should give YOUR organs to help others. You won’t need them - when you’re dead. “Become an ‘Organ Donor’ ”, pleads the TV celebrity … it will make you feel good.
Or is that just media hype and government propaganda?

Shock: requiring death before organ donation is unnecessary, say experts [EXPAND]
Toronto, November 2011: Because organ donors are often alive when their organs are harvested, the medical community should not require donors to be declared dead, but instead adopt more “honest” moral criteria that allow the harvesting of organs from “dying” or “severely injured” patients, with proper consent, three leading experts have argued. ... The authors state frankly that under current practices donors may be technically still alive when organs are harvested – a necessary condition to produce healthy, living organs. Because of this, they say that protocol requiring a donor’s death is “dangerously misleading,” and could overlook the well-being of the donor who may still be able to suffer during the harvesting procedure. Heartbeat and blood pressure rise as the surgeon cuts into the supposedly dead organ donor, a similar reaction to a healthy person being attacked with a knife.
Some doctors recommend administering anaesthetic, prior to harvesting, to prevent pain to supposedly "brain dead" donors despite the donor being officially declared dead.
Organ donors get inferior treatment than organ keepers. This happens because treatment to preserve harvestable organs increases the injuries and may even kill the patient.
An organ recipient's body experiences the transplanted organ as a malignant invader to be killed. Doctors administer drugs to stop this rejection which then creates similar immune deficiency diseases to AIDS victims.
